FANDANGO UPDATE

Response to FANDANGO is coming through Nashville !!!

We had a beautiful day for a survey and Sea Trial Monday.

All in all it went well, there were no major findings that stood out on FANDANGO. There are some items that need to be addressed such as wiring, and non ignition protected devices in the engine room.

The Engines ran fairly good, considering they have been sitting so long. The Starboard engine has a miss in it under load at mid RPM. Sounds like we have some cables or plug issues. (Hopefully) This boat still has points, so an upgrade may be a nice project.

This (Starboard) Engine was rebuilt a while back and it has ~400 hours on it. Compression was 170 PSI on all 8.

The Port Engine is running a bit rich. Some smoke is coming out and it smells rich.
The Port transmission had a slight rattle sound on it.. It reminded me of a ducati motorcycles dry clutch. (Somewhat). Could be a bearing but it felt solid. (Thoughts)

Port Compression was 152-160, not bad..

Both transmissions were rebuilt about 400 hours ago as well. The seem to be solid and held up well to the sea trial.

Generator ran fine, we thought the impeller was bad so we replaced it. Apparently the exhaust on the MCCK and the Commander does not allow for a steady stream of water... More like an intermittent stream. (Lesson Learned)

One problem we had was the boat pullout and bottom inspection. We could not complete this because the trailer would not accomodate the keel. So the next move is to have the boat driven to Green Turtle Bay for a haulout there. This will be a GREAT seatrial and should shake any gremlins loose. It would be great if it all worked out so we could dock it there until we bring her down. We will have to see how the hull looks.

All in All it went great, better than expected on my side. Just some cleanup from prior owners wiring and doing things their unique way.

One mystery, there was a Vacuum Tub under the helm, if anyone has any thoughts on that let us know. (It wasn't glowing)

The boat has all of the original manuals and prior logs.

We did hear a rumor that there are outriggers for her. Hopefully we can tracke these down and add these to the boat for the trip.

"I wonder how do you troll for crappie?" Maybe we will figure it out..

Thanks for your interest.

Reece E.
