Response to Here's what you can expect on your cruise up the Cumberland

That is an awesome trip. I hope the weather gets a bit warmer, at least we will have a nice pair of heater under our feet if it gets too cold. (BIG DOGS)

I have been talking with the owner of http://www.earthnc.com about testing some beta marine tracking software. I want to capture a picture every minute or so and post it and my gps location onto his server. This should allow us to keep a quasi realtime record of the trip. The software uses google earth for imagery so it should look great. Hopefully we will have it figured out this week.

They have a neat product and I recommend that you check it out. The software is a lot more afforadable than most marine GPS units, and you can use it for other items.

I think that google has this capability but it will not show the buos and other marine specific items.

Check out the site and let me know what you think. There are some clubs that have the real time tracking on their websites.... This is a cool concept, but I'm not sure I want't everyone to know where I am on my weekends.... happy.gif
