Hello-

This is my first post. I'm currently building a 351C, .030 over. All machine work to be done next Tuesday, so I'm getting ready to build it! Pop-up TRW pistons for 4V CC heads. Should be about 11.3 to 1(compression). Manual trans. Torker intake. Super comp headers. Adjustable valve train. Springs: 125 @ seat. 308 for the rate. New valves, stock size. Mild bowl work. Gasket matched intakes on the head. Rear gears are 3.89.

Questions:

1: Should the Torker manifold be matched to the gasket with the heads? The ports are noticeably smaller than the head and gaskets openings. Is there any gains for a spacer under the Torker? If so, should it be open or the 4-hole variety?

2: I have a Magnum 282 solid. But, I wonder about this crane F246 I've read about here in the forums. Better? I see its a dual profile...the magnum is not. I'm open for any suggestions. Usage is to try and get down the strip as fast as I can in a big 1973 Mach 1 boat. Idle, fuel, etc, are not issues. I just want to drag race. Any recomendations on a Crower or Isky camshaft? My machine shop says they like those cams over the comp cams.

3: I'm looking to buy a carb, and have been thinking in the 800 to 850 CFM range. Anyone try one of those Mighty Demon Carbs? Am I too big(CFM's)? I also already have an edelbrock 750 I could use... Any thoughts here appreciatted. I'm looking to try something different than the edelbrock, but if people think this(edelbrock) will work on the strip, i'll stick with it. I like the sound amd looks of the Mighty Demon...

Thank you to anyone for any input. This seems to be a great looking forum for Clevelands- in fact, its one of the only one's I've ever come across!
