New from Oregon
Ended up with a '67 462 and trans that was running and driving with a failing water pump. The plan is to dress it like a '58 Edsel and use in a period 1964 Era Gasser. On here to learn as much as possible about these cool engines!

Sounds like cool project. Keep an eye on this forum for a 61-68 430/462 to manual transmission bell housing. As far as I know nothing has materialized yet but there is one on the table.

I was wondering if the 66-68 had a BBF C6 bolt pattern, can you bolt up any manual bellhousing?

462s have the 61-65 pattern cast into it but some are factory tapped for a C-O-M to bolt up to it and some are not. I do not know why that is. The one in draft will likely be a C-O-M pattern (to accommodate 61-65 MELs) with a provision for the 462 bolt on ear under the starter. To me the April 68-70? 460 looks identical to the 66-March 68 MEL with the exception of the 3 bolt MEL starter vs the 2 bolt 460 starter. Never had the two transmissions side by side.

A little update since I have made some actual progress on the project. Turns out the 462 I was sold is actually a C4VE that I believe to be a 1962 ish 430 Lincoln. I have also a 1958 Edsel 410 that unfortunately the wrecking yard likely dropped after it was pulled and broke three of the ears on a head where the exhaust[img] bolts which really is unfortunate. Then through looking for more parts I end up with a NOS C2VE Short Block with a FoMoCo tag. Finally a bare block, extra crank, pistons and rods for a 1959-60 430. Two Edsel tall four barrel intakes and one Lincoln low slung intakes. Four bare heads, one Edsel head and the set on the hopefully runner engine. One stripped distributor and one stuck in the block of the runner. Hopefully I can figure out how to extricate that one at some point. I have a new in box rebuilt water pump and two crunchy ones. Three timing covers and two oil pans. I am hoping enough parts to get one engine going and then start building a more powerful version for the future. Slover machining in CA may be sending me adapter plates to run a BBF intake to adapt a super charger similar to David Frieburgers Tunnel Cram

All Ford company running gear with the only thing being GM will be the body and a portion of the frame. Even early Mustang seats, ford steering box, radiator, 9", etc.
Waiting on header flanges from Headers by Ed out of MN. A scratch and dent PowerGen alternator is on its way as well. Pertronix will be going in the distributor. I have a rebuilt Holley 4 barrel for now until I can step up to more carburation.

Can I put my questions about the engines in here or do I need to start a new thread over in general discussion? I dont want to make any missteps in process that may hinder getting the answers I need is all!
