I may have a choice between two 430cid engine and trans combos:
64 Lincoln Cont 430/4bbl/auto
59 Lincoln 430/4bbl/auto
both engines were supposedly pulled as "excellent runners" from bodies too rusted to salvage.
The gentleman selling them is asking $500 each for complete combos
I plan on putting the set-up in my chopped 56 F100 and using the truck as a cruiser, haul my motorcycle and parts chaser.
I am just wondering which of the set-ups I should get.
I am new to the MELs and don't know if there is a difference in these two engines.
WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

BOTH !
Buy both and sell one. For that price you can get one for free !
I would get the 59 as a keeper because it has the higher compression and shares the bellhousing of a FE ford motor for more tranny combos.
Just my shitty opinion !

Anyone close by me (northern INDIANA) interested in a complete 64 Continential 430/auto ?? LOL I would like to get them both, but money is quite tight....
The 59 will be the one I get, now to find a way to get an OVERDRIVE tranny with an FE bellhousing... any ideas?

You might find this inspiring. Give them a call and ask them for guidance. A C6 is a popular and very rigid trans. I'd be surprised if they didn't cover it.

Theres a lot of companies that have aod trans for fe's. Google it. Theres a company who has a expensive adapter kit. www.ford-aod.com. It has to be a earlier trans so there is NO computer to control the shifts, just a tv cable. All totally doable wallet permitting. If you do it let us know and take pics. This way we can live thru you! vanscooter
