One day soon I think he will be able to climb the ladder himself... then I plan to teach him throttle and steering. I wonder if he could make a martini?
On a Commander too! This is Todd's Jack Russell Terrier, Scout, photographed in Michigan a couple of years ago. The dog strutted around the boat like he owned it, ha!
This is Warren and Delma Pateman's Mufti, dressed for the occasion.
The following photos were copied out of the tribute to Warren here on the forum, who sadly passed away aabout a year ago. Interestingly, he typed in a code on these photos, and the code on this first one was, "Mufti is very much a part of the crew" The other photo codes are noted below on each photo.
"Mufti the ships dog always on guard always"
"Mufti is always ready to go cruising"
Mufti was obviously a very lucky dog, and hopefully is still romping around the compound in Australia with a watchful eye on the Pateman family.
I hear you about making the gin and tonic. They're smarter than we think. A good gin and tonic is totally within the realm of possibilities. Your on-board guests would be very impressed!
We've had some difficulty keeping one of our dogs off the internet. Once she got the credit card code down right, then we started seeing parts for the boats and cars showing up from ebay auctions she won (lol, joking of course! ).
Not sure how "discriminating" they are, but here's our gang

Here's out baby "Teo", now around 11 weeks....liver spotted Dalmatian male, not yet on board a boat, so we don't really know how discriminating he is just yet.
Here's Tasha, when she was a pup. This is the one we almost lost due to here appetite for sunflower seeds we tossed out for the birds. Come to find out, wet sunflower seeds contain a toxin. When I found her limp on the ground, we rushed her to the pet emergency clinic. It was close. Happy to say she's still full of herself!
Here she is (left) with her older sister, Tia.
Here's our alpha-dog, Leo. This guy is a real bruiser.
Everyone's been on board our Commander at one time or another except the new guy, "Teo". We'll take care of that later this season. We won't be letting him get on the internet unsupervised anytime soon
Yeah, I know, I'm going to have to get some photos of them with a Chris Craft hat!
This is Sigge and is always with me in the boat. He especially likes hanging out on the motor box looking for birds and to go swimming from the boat when we are at anchor. He is a poodle/jack russel terrier mixed breed.
When we are ashore he mostly thinks about rabbits (don´t show Janet this one Paul )
This was easy hunting on the balcony.
Ha, that rabbit chew toy would probably not be a hit with Janet! I saw Tom's note, and agree Sigge is one lucky dog !
Our pet rabbit gets fed a combination of parsley, celantro, carrot, kale, dried unsalted soy beans, a grape, and piece of dried bananna, twice a day. The darn thing thinks it owns the place! They're first inclination is to run and live another day, but they're fearless, by the way, especially when cornered. They have the teeth and the speedy reflexes to back it up!
This little guy is litterbox trained, and has asserted herself in the face of pending danger, dealing with each of our 4 dalmatians one at a time. The rabbit made a menacing move forward when it felt threatened, and on one occasion actually nipped our alpha-dog on the nose when he got too close on that first visit. It was just a nip, but I never saw a dog put it in full throttle reverse so fast like that before or sense, ha ha. Word got out to the other dogs about that incident, ha ha. They all get along pretty well now that introductions and the turf situation is settled.
We have a new dalmatian puppy and he is just getting his teeth now. He's doing a lot of chewing, and he has a toy that squeeks. It suddenly dawned on us that the squeek sounds like a rabbit in distress, so we took it away from him. Bunny was NOT amused !
Well Whaler is a 14 year old Jack Russell and I got him on the day I bought our 15' Boston Whaler. He was so small I carried him on the fitting out ride in the pocket of my pull over sweat shirt. He literally wailed the whole time, thus his name was given for both the timing of getting the boat and his antics while picking it up.
Whiner, on the other hand is a 13 year old Jack Russell and one of the finest dogs I have ever owned. Smart, athletic, obedient and my constant companion. When we brought her home, Whaler wanted to show his dominance, but she would have nothing of it. She would put up her neck fur and howl at him. It was quite funny to see this 8 week old pup facing off the Whaler dog. I guess, like most of us guys, he knew who was going to rule the roost. She is anything but a whiner, but the howling sounds similar, so thus the name.

I just caught Elvis on the laptop, checking out Whiners' sexy pose. He says he likes the older gigls and he is hoping to get to know her at the Huron Rendezvous. "Elvis, turn that thing off and go to bed.................
In recent years the pups don't travel with us. When they were younger they loved the boat and water, then about 5 years ago they both started shivering and cowering when we would power up. Spent a long weekend at Lexington a few years back and all we did was clean up puke and loose stool. Seems they just get too worked up or fearsome. Now we have a pet setter that comes in three times a day. That way we don't board them and they are comfortable in their kennels at home. BTW, Valium only serves to excite these kids. Me, on the other hand, well .....
I see if Whiner will give Elvis an autographed photo of her in her pink outfit. That ought to put him over the edge.
