| I agree a compression check would be advisable on the motor.
The airleak could be intake manifold gaskets OR a leaky vacuum port plug..some manifolds have a plug in an intake passage for this. Even a rusted through passage is not unheard of.
Some carb cleaners use a propane propellent that when sprayed on the leak causes the engine speed to change..up if its lean, down if its rich. Even water will change the speed if the leak is big enough.
A close inspection of the other plugs is also in order. Insulator color, the point on the ground electrode where the color change occurs, CLOSE scrutiny for "fly specks" of molten metal on the plug..all give an indication of cylinder operating conditions. |
