Any gas repower should be done ONLY with a roller lifter engine. Much less internal friction, better economy. Fuel burn is largely determined by fuel, timing, and cam settings. For low speed use a roller cam 350 with a mild, non-marine cam would be ideal. Same with a big block Chevy if you want more reserve for faster cruise.
Lower engine speed also increases engine longevity. Any Chevy engine will last forever at 2000 rpms, as long as it's not heavily loaded at the rpm. |
