Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
OPERATION "REMOVE CARBURETOR" Despite the notice I received on my car saying I couldn't "perform maintenance of any kind" on my car, I snuck out at about noon today to take the carb off. Using my stealth and ninja like quickness, I swiftly removed the carb undetected and started the rebuild. Here's ...

62 Lincoln Continental Master Cylinder Rebuild
Found a sticky piston after rebuilding my master cylinder. Not sure if it requires a counter pressure from the brake lines to push the piston back towards the booster, but I might end up buying a new master cylinder. Found a replacement made by Cordone for about $34. Not sure if this is a good brand...

1962 Lincoln Continental Master Cylinder Honing
Just received my master cylinder rebuild kit, and took some time taking it apart and cleaning it. First soaked it in a degreaser over night, then wire brushed the outside and the cap. Here is a video I took after honing it for a while.

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
Nic, do you have to apply extra pressure on the pedal w. weak braking power? Haven't gotten that far yet. I bought the car with bad brakes, and the first time I tried them is when I noticed the vacuum leak. I have found that the leak is coming from an output that's supposed to connect to the vacuum...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
Yeah she's comin' along well. I do hear some slight lifter noise as Theo pointed out, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix until I rebuild the motor completely, hopefully next year. This week I have my master cylinder rebuild kit coming, an original 1961 shop manual with the 62 & 63 supplement guid...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
I spent some time inspecting the brake lines today, and have a better understanding of the system and vacuum lines. Can anybody tell me what part 2063 is in this diagram? I know it's part of the main vacuum system, but not sure what the part is called. I found that it's disconnected from the brake b...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
Okay I think I figured it out. It's the piece that goes on the booster from the inside by the brake pedal. would this piece affect the brake fluid pressure of the master cylinder?

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
Sweet! So after thinking on it some, I have a much better understanding of the brake system from your description. I just ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit and it will be here on Monday. I just took the whole unit apart, and the rubber gaskets and pieces in the cylinder seem to be in okay shape,...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental
Thanks again, this is all great information. So far I've only tried to bleed the right rear, and I did have to clean the valve. In regards to the master cylinder and the brake booster, would the cylinders be in the booster? Also, which parts should I have to replace? I'm about to go take the booster...
