Thanks Mark, you mentioned your props were 20 x 22 and you have 350s,of course I haven t tried this boat in the water, but based on the figures given by PO and you and Chris Wade s and considering this boat weights 7,250kgs dry (just under 16000lbs)on the hoof,I thought I was overproped but if my props are 20 x 21 and the engines WoT is 3900,should I be looking at disfunctional(300hrs) engines? I guess I ll start with a compression test.
Thanks again
Eduardo

Eduardo I'm not sure you have an issue at all you stated that "I haven't tried this boat in the water" so are you sure about the 3900 rpm's as max WOT? 20 x 21 is about what I might expect to see pushing your boat. A compressons test is fine it can't hurt anything but I wouldn't change anything until I tested the boat on the water myself. You may find out that the actual WOT is higher than 3900 it can take a while to reach max rpm on these boats they are heavy and the small blocks tend to need a little more time to get up to speed.

Re.:Max WOT 350s?

Mark, I read somewhere that the 327 top operating RPM is 4000,is this applicable to your 350s regardless of electronic distributors? My second question is this:my block is 350 but exhaust and probably intake manifolds and carbs are 327s,did you change these parts in your 350s to let the engine s larger capacity reach its max potential?
Thanks
Eduardo

Re: MAX WOT 350's

The 350Q's were initially rated at 4000 rpm also, July 1 1975 CC released a Technical Service Bulletin # E-184 and increased the rating to 4400 the 327 was not included and the 307 stayed at 4000. The intake, exhaust and carbs are the same on the 327 and the 350. I made no modifications to my engines they are still stock other than the port motor which has been rebuilt and bored 030 over. I still have my stock distributors I do have the conversion kits for them but I removed them at one point and the old points work fine for me so I haven't put the pertronix back in yet I will some day when I need new points probably. But for now the points are fine. I would think you have the carter carbs mine are the 6117S model but there were two different versions of the AVS used. My Q manual shows the 6117S but I have seen and heard of a 4xxx series don't remember the exact number. I would check that your carbs are opening all the way I think I have that issue on my port motor which I will check this spring it is simply a cable adjustment.
