Here are some threads that offer some good info on the #1409 Edelbrock marine 600 cfm carb.
My own experience on a 327F small block. At first I thought the 600 was way too much carb for a 327, and it is, but the darn thing runs well and I have no complaints after several runs now. The 600 is actually a little on the conservative size for a 427, and since the original 427 Carter was a 625, you really are NOT missing anything by going to a 600. Both have plenty of fuel capacity for the 425 cubic inches in that 427 motor.

Edelbrock info and first hand report on 427 installation. Curt Hill reports in on his conversion, which was not necessarily a "bolt in and run" operation, but was pretty simple.
