I have a 35 Commander and am wondering if anyone knows where you could find a locking gas cap for the older raised fuel fills we have on these boats. With the cost of gas and the large amount of fuel on board. I feel like I am a floating free service station waiting to be hit. Has anyone come up with a solution? Thanks
Didn't realize it was that long ago, but I remembered it. The search feature worked pretty well. I just entered "gas cap" in quotes, and up came all the threads that had anything to do with gas caps.
The more I think about this, the more I think it is a good idea. It keeps the fuel supply secure from vandalism, and it also keeps someone from pulling along side the boat and taking off several hundred dollars worth of fuel with the drop of a hose. You could rig an electric fuel pump to do that job quickly too. The big CC fuel tank caps are very vulnerable to theft. They're worth a bunch of money and easily twisted off and taken, leaving the tank open to the weather. You can pay a hundred bucks on ebay for one. I may take some measurements and photos and send them to the company and ask them if they can put together a kit. You nee the twist in receptacle part to adapt to the CC fuel tube, before the locking cap can be used. I am also concerned about a waterproof seal, because it won't do any good to be spraying water into the tanks when someone with a hose is washing down the boat. Too bad they don't make one in a chrome?
Looks like a good product and solution for those with fuel guages, but for those of us still using a manual wooden measuring stick I do not think it will work?
That guy has an uncanny resemblence to my father in law the first time I took my girlfriend, now wife, on a date. Vintage 1974. We live in the south, they write songs about guys like him. Great photo! LOL
