You know, just when you think life is a crap sandwich and everyday is another bite, something happens out of the blue that restores your hope and joy. Friday morning, Zach and I took off for the lake expecting to spend a miserably cold day winterizing the Generator and fresh H2O system on "Feelgood". With any luck we would ready the engines for extraction and make a lumber list and plan for the frame work to support the tarp that would blanket her from the snow this winter.
Well, upon arriving at Gem Beach Marina, I couldn't find my boat. Did it sink before haul out? did someone pull up with a hydraulic semi trailer and make off with her? I call my good friend and marina owner Jack Grummel and asked these questions of him on his personal answering machine.
We went to the trailer and did some chores. Seemed it was going to be an easier day than we had expected. As we were pulling out of the trailer park the cell phone rang. It was Jack calling to tell me that even though I requested outside storage to save some $, he decided that since he would be helping pull the motors and it is just as easy to shore her up inside, he would save me the effort of building the frame and covering her. WOW!
It sure is nice when someone throws you a bone. Not only did he save me the time effort and money involved with outside storage, I got to work oh the boat inside in shirt sleeves.
Since I was so late getting up there to winterize, it probably save the geny and plumbing, too!
I am going to schedule a couple days in January (with marina assistance)to pull the motors.
A thought came to us on the way home..........What if I put one of the 350's in the newly aquired 18' lyman
and the other in my project 1940 15'6" Chris Runabout. I guess I would have to pick up some Big Dogs for the Commander HUM.............
Here she is sittin' pretty waiting for power and spring. Looks like I have a shot at being "first in" at the marina this year
Yours Truly and reaping the rewards of good karma, Chris
