Response to CCC Forum = $$$$ saved.

Like the man said, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"....well that's easy to say, but really, if the windshield is still very and I mean VERY firm and solid, does not rattle or leak in any way.. don't touch it...

It is a lot of delicate work. There are lots of small 90deg corner braces inside those frames and they are bolted to the frames by short flat head screws, which can not be reached without dismantling the whole thing. Most of them were all loose.

Furthermore these fasteners, including the big screws in the top and bottom are brass, so you can imagine what happens between brass and aluminium, it freezes solid. Lots of patience and a very delicate touch is required in order not to strip the heads.

Yes the frame DOES support the flybridge, so be careful, it is heavy. I drilled through it to relocate the wiper wires into the ceiling of the bridge, and went through 3/4 of an inch of SOLID fiberglass. Plus there are a few horizontal encapsulated wood stringers, into which the bottom mid part of the bridge is srewed, just in front of the slliding doors. A real puzzle to fix.

Good luck
