I looked at this piece for quite a while, and it is gravity operated to an extent, and forced a bit with the opening of the electric choke. IN ANY CASE, whatever it's intended for, it worked fine today. I installed an iron wedge off my 17' SBC powered speedboat and the motor seemed quite happy all day long. We ran it for over an hour and a half straight at speeds from 1000 to 4100 and it never so much as missed one beat.
At an angle, however, that little ridge in the red arrows, doesn't want to let go, and people will need to either get a wedge, or file it down a bit.
