Yep, it's little things like a linkage conflict that can cost ya a few hundred rpms.

Do you have a "spreadbore" carb? (looking for picture)

I'd forgotten you used a 13x13 prop. When I went from 14x12 to polished 14x10 with cup, my top speed actually increased, and slip went down.
