Response to This doesn't sound good

Does the noise happen when cranking the motor? Just curious if it happend only when the motor was running. A lot of good tips allready offered. Here is another possibility. I would be VERY tempted to try to isolate the noise to one side or another if possible, and then remove a plug. With the removed plug there is NO compression on that piston, and this may be a way to isolate which piston is associated with the problem. It might also accentuate the noise if it is, in fact, eminating from a piston at all. Regards, good luck, Tom
