Paul,
I did not replace tanks on my Chris. I have two 300 gallon aluminum tanks. Both had lots of crud in them. I rented a fuel polishing machine which removed the existing fuel while cleaning it of bacteria. I then borrowed a strange looking device that connected to the tank and flushed them with a solvent. This device looks a bit like a whiffle ball with a threaded neck attached. When screwed into the tank and solvent dispersed under pressure, it whirls around like a bad wheel on a grocery cart basically scouring the entire inner surface of the tank. After that I shop vac'd out the residue, replaced the fuel and topped off the tanks. I now use Algae X filters and their fuel additive. I have no fuel related issues.
Unless your tanks are leaking or perforated from salt water I would not go to the extent of replacing them. Just my opinion. If you wish, I can call my buddy that has the device and find out where he purchased it. Let me know.
