A good engine machine shop could weld a plug in the cross over port on both sides of the intake if you wanted to fix it on the cheap. Make sure there are no holes internally between an intake runner and the exhaust crossover. Obviously you'll lose the carb heat but I don't think you'll miss it! Just a thought. It sure would not look as nice as a bright, shiny new aluminum intake. My wife would say "who is going to be looking at it?"
