Response to Mike Burdette's 31 restoration project ( Identical boat to yours )

Oliver,
It looks like a good boat, just needs a lot of work. It doesn't look any worse than mine, maybe a little better. I had to have mine painted and if the original gel coat is good you're way ahead of where I was. I thought I understood you were in Europe? Wherebouts?
I haven't been able to work on mine too much. I have transferred all the railing from the parts boat to the project boat. That was a bigger job than I thought it would be. I still am not happy with the engine mounting / alignment. The Volvo Penta repower transmissions have an angle which allows the engines to lie "flatter" in the engine bays, but it may require shims so that the shafts are centered in the shaft log. The engine mounts are at the top of the adjustment and I'd like to have them lower to have less of a "bending moment" on the stringers.
A boat like this is a lot of work, as anyone will tell you. You will know the boat and that says a lot.
Mike Burdette
