Response to Your options expand immensely if you are willing to transport on the highway

Hi Chuck,

First of all, Welcome Aboard! Secondly, I agree with James, don't limit yourself to the neighborhood when it comes to making an investment in cash and fun like this.

Years ago I had a bad experience with a hauler, who trucked my 38 backwards and blew out the headliner, and probably came close to blowing out the windshield too. He did some other damage to the boat and by the time I got done with the deal, he did the hauling for free.

Get a REPUTABLE HAULER who does this full time as a business. Here is an excellent reference for you.

Chad is based in Michigan, but these guys haul nationwide. Many times you can arrange to piggyback on a trip where they are hauling a boat each direction and you'll save a lot of money that way. There is also the Uship.com process, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a boat this size. I used this alternative on a runabout and it worked out fine, shipping from Lake Ontario to Tennessee.

There are tons of great freshwater boats all over the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River system, and some of these would be an easy ship for someone like Chad. These guys also know exactly how to disassemble a flybridge (and reasemble it for you upon arrival). They do it all the time, and their fee is well worth it. Go with a pro!

Regards,

Paul
