Response to Want more power from your 427 ?

I remember hearing rumors as a kid, about full size Ford cars roaming the streets of Detroit, with these SOHC 427 motors in them. Seems as though the engineers got to drive them around and try them out on the local night time racers. That was back, of course, when street racing was more of a fact of life and more socially accepted than it is now days.

As good as a Paragon transmission is, I doubt if you could keep one together very long with that kind of power. Also, if some of us have overheating issues now, I can only imagine the cooling issues that would come with nearly 3x the power being generated in that block.

In addition, I can also imagine the toll it would take on shafts and props, and what a wonderful wake a 38' Commander would make at 60-mph, ha.
