Response to NICE YACHT!!

The boat is a 1977. In 1997 to 1998 she went through a deck off restoration. The engines are 1997 mechanical injected Cummins 6bta m3, 270 hp. basicaly a Dodge Ram pick-up engine that Cummins has marinized. The way the boat is set up she tips the scales at about 14,000 lbs. I turn 2600 rpms wot, and I run 27 to 29 knots, on the open ocean. I cruise at 2000 to 2200 rpm at about 21 to 23 knots on the gps. I have flo scan fuel monitors and at cruise I burn about 16 gph total. The fuel tank was custom fabricated of aluminum, and it holds 272 gal. The single tank is coffin shaped and it is mounted mid ship from the transom up between the 6 cylinder diesels. When I remove the center deck hatch the top of the tank extends 18 inches foreward from the rear of the opening. I have dual 900 Racor fuel filters mounted to the front of the tank, and the fuel fill is a 2 inch neck on top of the tank. A very neat installation, with great access to all mechanicals. I am not sure of the range, because of varying conditions, but if you do the math, it's very economical.
