Response to 390’s used in trucks |
| 3000 to 4000 rpms even in a large vessel is still not that big a deal as they are under constant and steady load. Providing the oil supply is kept constant and cool and the engines have a compression ratio that will not allow detonation. Marine engine manufactures use 4000-4400 rpms as the redline as that is where the engines produce a good balance of torque, fuel economy and oil and water tempature control and recommend the boat builder to gear and prop their boats accordingly.
