Anti Spyware/Virus

Response to Excellent advice - here is some more

As a former tech guy for a large telecommunications company I will tell you now the best free anti spyware on the market today comes from Microsoft they found a relatively small company that was producing a superior product and in typical MS fashion they bought them. They market this as windows defender now. I have been running it for 2 years now and neither of the free versions of lavasoft or spybot can touch it for ease of use it downloads its own updates and is active in real time it stops most everything before it ever gets to your pc not after it is on there and finds it during a scan. It also scans on schedule and is free for the download at the MS site.
Anti Virus I use McAfee simply because my company gives it to me free of charge and after 7 yearts virus free I cant complain and I go places most people won't even think about going because they are so virus heavy in my job I have to do some research and it involves hacking sites. Got to keep the company protected. I have used AVG and Trend micro runs on my server tehy are both good products. I can't use a firewall so I have to be very careful in keeping everything up to date all of my products are set to update every day and scan daily also. And in all reality a firewall only stops people from coming in to hack your machine and they can only do that if they have managed to load a trojan or other program on your machine one of the reasons I run XP pro not the home edition the pro version is much more secure.
