As expected, the 100 ml cylinder gave exactly the same answer as the 1000ml cylinder. Both gave a reading of 8.35 I would have rather seen 10% as that seems to be the most common figure I see. For what it's worth the pump where I purchased the gas did not indicate any ethanol content. Here in Chicago you can count on a 3-4% content of ethanol additive to replce MTBE so go figure. The test should be conducted at room temperature. Since I was unwilling to vigorously shake a glass cylinder filled with gasoline inside the house the test was conducted at 34 deg F in the garage. It would be nice to get my hands on some pure gasoline to run a control test, but I can't get that anywhere around here. Below should be a picture of the water/gasoline interface. (red dye added to the water for contrast)
