Hi, the photo of the day showing the rear of Bob Baillod's 38 Commander made me think of trim tabs:
That is what I am seeing, right? Our 38' Commander does not have trim tabs. Some boaters have told us that trim tabs can increase our ability to plane and decrease fuel consumption. However, for that I think they would have to extend past the back of the boat thus increasing your hull surface.
Anyway, on Bob's boat, it looks like the tabs are molded into the hull and don't extend past. How do they operate? Is there screw jacks or hydraulics that let you adjust them underway for side to side trim?
I'd like to get smarter on trim tabs for the Commander, and to figure out if they are worth retrofitting.
