Response to lateral thinking

Great thread, thanks Joe.

I have a question. Has anyone had unexplained bearing damage who has bushed lifter bores?

As set out above and my take on the clevo oiling system is the pump is too effective and pushes the oil through the lifter feed holes into the rocker boxes at the expense of the bearings. Loss of pressure or sucking the sump dry.

I have taken the dizzy out of an engine with restrictor kit and external line installed but without bushed lifter bores. Hooked an electric drill to the pump drive, taken the drivers side (Aussie) rocker cover off and turned the engine on the starter while running the drill.

The amount of oil that comes out the pushrods is astounding. At revs it is greatly multiplied.

My initial fix was to fill the holes in the side of the lifters and re drill to .020

The next step will be bushed lifter bores.

There are guys out there, MME, Wink (others please speak up) who bush bores as a matter of course on a race build, is this the fundamental fix to the cleveland oiling system?

Keep this thread going!
