Smoot,

I own several Z-cars and serve as my crew’s mechanic. Overhead cam engines do have power improvements over a OHV. Read any motor design book, and you will find this. They also have design advantages, etc.

HP is a dirivative of torque (since they are related).
And the final output does have to do with the engine internals (i.e. piston speed), but you can’t rate internal friction in terms of direct HP.
HP is a function of the final output of the crankshaft torque.
(Thinks like piston inersia, piston speed, etc. have a lot to do with outout and RPM levels for given output)

Regular oil should be changed on an average of 3K, more for Synthetic (some say 18-25K, but it should be changed more often; on the order of 5-6 or 8-10K at most) That brings me to my point; Oil will pick up chemical contaminates and carry them around in the oil until the oil it changed. That’s a major reason to change the oil.

And, kids, always remember to recycle (your oil), TO THE EXTREAM!
