I'm getting complaints from a couple of users regarding that "Skip Ad" advertisement appearing constantly, rather than just the once.
Using IE7, I do get the ad just the once, anoying but bearable.
The user that gave me most info has tried using IE (version 6), Avant, Firefox and Opera and with all of them the ad comes on each time she change pages and go in/out of posts.
Needless to say it's driving her round the twist!
With IE6 and Avant, if she sets full security on, it doesnt appear, but then she can't post either! She's tried Mozilla too, which does suppress the ads, but she can't get the Insert Object to appear.
Anyone else reporting probs? Have you tried other browsers apart from IE7?
Any suggestions for my users (apart from upgrading to IE7, which neither of them like nor want to do!)

The Ad is back, and the problem is still there....

My user who was having this trouble with her preferred Avant browser tells me it's worse than ever - she now can't even click the "Skip This Ad" - her only recourse is to close the window (along with Network54)!!!
For the moment she's switching to a different browser just to view the Forum, a solution, but not ideal, and one people will tire of, and eventually not bother!
Are we trying to drive the non-IE users away from N54?
Speaking of which, using either Firefox or Opera, I've never had the Insert Object appearing, although they do happily seem to run the other scripts. IE is my only way to get Insert Object!

Can't answer the first part, but the second part...

your answer is yes, it only works in IE.
I know it's not the popular answer, because so many people hate Microsoft, but IE is the only browser that works for many sites, not just N54. The other browsers spent so much time avoiding the hijacking and other injections that they removed much of the functionality of their browsers. I manage several websites and let me tell you, it's an adventure making things work for other browsers, and people on AOHELL are the worst to deal with. They feel AOHELL is the only way to do things, they don't even understand that when they are using the AOHELL browser, they're technically not even on the real internet, but I HAVE TO make things work for them. If I have to explain one more time that KEYWORDING is NOT an internet term, but an AOL term, I'll crawl through the wire coming out of the back of my computer and strangle them......

Indeed AOL hell is an awful place to code for!
I still believe the other major browsers should be catered for though. Like you, I have had to customise my site a little for each browser. Shame they can't all abide by one scripting standard! However, until they do, its really down to N54 to adapt their code accordingly.

Unfortunately, Network 54 has been busy writing new software for quite some time. I don't think they have the resources to divert to making the old style fit every browser.....

...are we going to see the new software soon?
Any idea yet how it may affect the Forums?
...and my fav user is getting tired of the one-time "skip this ad" repeating on her on every post she opens, even using IE!
Do we know if it's the N54 cookie that stores whether or not someone's had the ad, or is the "flag" maintained elsewhere on N54 systems (by login id, perhaps)?

That that opt out ad is supposed to appear every time a member accesses my forum? I'm getting complaints that that is what is happening, and it has really cut down on traffic in my forum.
