The group moderator has abandoned this forum several years ago. I would like to know if I could be made the group moderator since it is still very much active and has no one moderating and looking over the forum with the other members' best interest in mind.

Hello, that forum is indeed abandoned. Please post a notice on the forum that you have made a request to take it over and ask for comments. Then three days following, please email a link to that post so that I may review the comments. If it is generally favorable, then you can take it over.
