sprint upholstery

Does anyone know where to get blue lambeth cloth? We are restoring a sprint sportsroof, ordered the upholstery kit from NPD and it was wrong. The piping was wrong and the blue inserts were the wrong material.
Whoa....can't believe there is a site dedicated to the '72 Mustang Sprint.
I have a '72 Mustang Sprint in fair condition. I'm real excited to start the restoration. Never had a Mustang before and I've always been a Ford man. Picked this one up in Calif. in '89. Been stored in Spokane, WA till now, 2002. All the numbers match and is still the orig colors. Just somewhat rough now. Some minor rust in all those famous Mustang rust areas.
During the '70's I had 3 Sunbeam Tigers and a few Alpines. One Alpine was V-6'd and killed the Tigers in all competitions. Except in an all out straight drag. The V-8 won.
So...Hi to everyone and look forward to a wonderful relationship.
I think its a B package. Its has the 15" tires, the FMX trans, 351-C, etc. The engine has been bored +.30, a mild race cam, edelbrock high rise w/Carter AFB 4brl carb. I will get the ID #'s and post them soon.
I've had this lil pony a while but know very little about it. It was stored for 12 yrs. S'kinda rough right now. I'll post a pic as soon as I find it.
It has been repainted white and the blue tape is now blue paint, no red pin stripe. Decals missing too.
Some bondo behind the rear tires. Most likely rust. Surprised there so much rust on a Calif car. I'll bet it was orig. in N. Calif.. S.Calif cars usually don't rust.
Can't find any signs its been hit.
Calif. smog equip. has been diconnected.
I did drive the car from L.A. to Spokane, WA and I loved it. Its big, fast and comfortable as I remember.
For the short while I drove the Sprint in L.A. I fell in Love with it. Its a sweet car.
How available are parts these days?
I'll get the #'s next week when I visit the car.
I'll post them post haste.
Car is in need of complete restoration. Car is totaly a part. Car had been hit in the front end and someone replaced the front clip. I have a 351c 2v motor with FMX trans and most parts needed to assemble the car. Also have a report showing it is a sprint. I'm still looking for it. $1,700.00 email me for more info deanbruce1966@aol.com
I have a 302 engine with tag and car title from a convertible that was parted out in 1991. I am interested in selling. Offers invited. Believe I also have dash with tag and other parts (hood fenders etc.) thanks Mike Howard email mdandkids@yahoo.com
Please send me the serial # of your sprint convertible.
I maintain the registry and can provide you with prior owner information. My work email rejected the reply I sent you.
The owners of cars with VIN's 2F03F184256, 257, 277, 285, 286, 291, 292 & 293 were documented in the mid 1980's. The previous registar passed away and had not keep the registry of the 50 cars up to date. I took the list over and attempted to contact the owners and either could not locate anyone with the name/address I was given or the car was sold to someone else the and owner could not remember who they sold it to.
Contact me if you are serious about looking for these cars and I can tell you the state they were last known to be in.
FYI-I am the new owner of convertible #292. I tried to register this car and our other sprints on the website but was unsuccessful. Please feel free to contact me to update your information. Thanks for keeping up such a great website! Toni
I havee a 1971 mustang coupe I would like to cut the top off. Do anybody know if I have to do anything to strenghten the car. Thank you for the information.
Ok, first a little reality check here...You've got a 71 coupe that you want to make in to a convertible. First thing your goping to need is a new set of rockers, both inner and outers, next, torque boxes for the convertible, new quarter panels, new interior rear panels, and a host of very small, not yet reproduced sub brackets and reinforcements. To say this is a major undertaking is an understatement. You really want an idea of what it takes, contact Fred Galzier at Glaziers Mustang Barn in Souderton, PA...Way back in 1982, he did a coupe to convertible conversion on a one owner 68 coupe...The cost back then was 20K+ (plus the car itself).....I would think twice about attempting this on a unibody car such as the 71 Mustang......
Just my two cents worth on this particular subject...
Ok folks, I'm the guy who sold the 72 Sprint convertible at the MCA Grand Nationals in April of 1999 (it was not mine, but a friends who I had the pleasure of driving down to the show). Could not afford their car then, am in a better financial situation now. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
yes, this email address does work, however, you must put something in regards to the message title, otherwise, it might get canned as spam, along with the other 100+ spam emails this account already gets a day.
I bought this mustang and the guy said it was a sprint and interior & exterior looks like a sprint but has mach 1 hood and rear spoiler. The drivers door is not original cause vin# don't match. Can someone tell me how to identify this car through the vin #. Vin # is 2F02H179471.Thanks,
Eddie
It seems to be a Sprint.. If it were a Mach I, the body code in the VIN would have been a 05 instead of the 02 for a normal Sportsroof.. Also, the consecutive unit number of 179xxx is in the correct range for a Sprint.. Kevin Marti at martiauto.com can tell you more if you purchase a report from him.. My guess is that someone with a Sprint modified it with Mach I parts..
