Interior stuff

by

Hi everyone.
Hope Christmas was all you wanted it to be. Now make 2003 a Rocket year!!! Don't foget to have fun doin it too!!!

So....is the Lambeth cloth still available. Don't know what my seats have been redone in. Though it was done in the right color. Looks ok. Just needs to be redone now. What cloths are concourse acceptable? I got some mustang part catalogs but none really do Sprint stuff. Ya know...in the right colors. Was there a color code for the blue in the Sprint interior? I've seen other blues in other mustangs.

The car sat alotta years in a 'not very condusive to a collectable car' environment. And to salvage this wonderful automobile will cost me a small fortune. Buuuuttt.......Oh well!!!!!
Recording Music is my business and my new toy is my Sprint. So.........anybody need a jingle, a song recorded, or On Hold music? I need money for my Sprint Mustang.

I humbly appologize for shamelessly begging for yer spare change.

So anyway...nuff babbling...have a good new year.
Be Safe!!!

Dave

Front end parts

by

I have a complete front end that I removed from a 1972 wrecked sprint fastback. I drilled out all of the spot welds and just pulled it off.

Competition Suspension

by

What is the difference? How many other suspension systems were used on the Sprints. How would I tell whats on my Sprint. The previous owner had air shocks installed, I guess to haul something. I haven't changed them back yet as I haven't started the restoration. Soon as I win the lottery. :~/

The build sheet for my Sprint did not specify suspension specs,(see my post,"Build sheet, '72 Sprint 'A' Pkg", dated 12/10).

My guess is that the suspension is still intact except the shocks. Not much outside the paint job has change as far as I can tell. I think the interior has been redone, in the Sprint theme too. The red roping around the seat inserts is white. The carpets are not orig.. Though they are the right color blue.
There is minor rust in all those infamous '70s Mustang rust places on the body. Don't believe the car was ever hit either.

What does the 'EC' stand for on the buck tag? What is 'BO'? And what is 'X' for transmission on the door sticker. (again see my post of 12/10)

My wife has never ridin in nor drivin the car. After one of my gigs in L.A. I drove it home to E. Washington and it went into storage. She initially thought I was nuts. Ya see, she went thru my Tiger phase too. But being the lady she is lets me play. Gotta Love her!!! She giving me a thousand bucks for Christmas "to go to the Sprint, she said". Shes tired of hearin all about Sprint this and Sprint that. She wants a ride!!!! She dug the Tigers. She'll like the Sprint Mustang too!!
So needless to say, I gave her a grand to go play. Wonder what shes gonna do. :~\ Bet I get more Beatle stuff too. Kewl!!

Anyway....nuff babbling....just wonderin about the suspension thing and give abit more 'bout my Sprint..

Happy Holidays.

Dave

Competition suspension in the 71/73 models uses stagard shock brackets and a factory rear sway bar and a little stiffer rear springs

Sprint suspension ??s

by

Thnx Dean.

So did all the Sprints have the Comp. Suspension? Ya think thats a ?? for the CAC at Ford?
I got the build sheet for my Sprint but it was real vague in several areas of major concern. Maybe I should call them and ask them to elaborate a bit more.

Can't really imagine the Ford engineers using the lighter suspension with a 351 married to an FMX. Just a thought.

And whats all the stuff on the buck tag? S'gotta mean something. Anyone know. Hmmmmm....the CAC ya think? I'll give it shot. See what all they can come up with.

Thnx Dean. Hope yer holidays were great.

Be Safe.

So....is this kewl or what?!!
Though I do have some concerns, looking at the car and reading this letter. The car has bucket seats in the front. It also says "Automatic Transmission", not specifiying whether it was an FMX, C4 or C6. I was told by the guy who did my power train rebuild that the trans was an FMX. I did have him install a B/W Shift Kit.

So....is this car a Sprint or not??? Can't really tell.
It was built a month before Spring of 1972.
My only clue really, is the 'SP' on the Buck tag. i.e. SP-RINT or SP-RING. As well as the "HB" on the door sticker

The Buck Tag reads:

2F01H171562
11B
65D EC BTRAC
BO SP

The door sticker reads:

VIN# 2F01H171562
Date; 3/72
Body; 65D
Color; 9A
Trim; HB
Trans; X
Axle; 2
DSO; 71

Note the date of manufacture and the date on the door sticker are different. Is the date on the door sticker the date the car was shipped to the "DSO; 71", which is District Sales Office,Los Angeles,CA, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So my friends.....I hope this information proves helpful.
Email me if ya's wanna chat. I'd love to.

Happy Holidays. Be Safe.

Thnx.
Dave

Yep.. It's a Sprint..

by

The only surefire way to tell it's a Sprint is the trim code of HB. This definitely signifies a Sprint, and was not used on any non-Sprints.
