Hello everyone....
My question is, oil change two months ago, to a synthetic oil. Driven around small town the rest of the time, oil levels remain fine all this time. Suddenly today, when the engine is warm and I come to a stop the oil light comes on, but goes off when I accelerate, checked the levels and its not burning any oil. Engine seems to be running fine, no strange noises etc.
Any suggestions??
Thank you
Jayne

Had this happen on a vehicle once, same symtoms, turned out the wiri connecting to the oil pressure sender had broken and when I braked the bare connection would move forward and earth out on the motor, turning the oil light on, and when I accelerated again it would move back and the light would go off! This is only one remote possibility and probably not yours, but worth eliminating just the same! There are some people who subscribe to the theory that a full synthetic oil will "clean" your motor of all the varnish and sludge that has built up in your engine over many miles! This may lead to a low oil pressure reading at idle and the light will come on!To test if this is the case get your engine to operating temp and let it idle and if the light comes on and goes off when you rev it then this may be the case! Two questions, how many miles on your engine, and why did you suddenly decide to change to full synthetic? Please post back!

Thank you for response Terry,
The reason hubby changed to a full synthetic was because it creates less resistance on the motor and is better for the motor. He says he has noticed a improvement in the running of the car.
I should have said that it is a 1988 Mazda 929, 278,000 km on the motor.
Over the last couple days I have noticed that it only happens when the oil is at certain temperature. It never gets hot, it reaches about 1/3 way up the temperature gauge.
Thank you again Terry

Had a similar poroblem with 2 cars (current one included, 2000 b2500 pickup)
The truck's problem turned out to be the oil pressure sending switch had become tarnished and required replacement. My previous car had a failing oil pump which i didn't replace in time and the engine threw a rod througn the oil pan. Get it checked before it costs you big $$
