When does the truck do all of the backfiring. (ie : deacceleration, at idle, when accelerating?????????????????)
This will give us a bit more of a hint as to how to help you.

Are you sure that the timing is correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has the timing belt ever been changed? How many miles are on the truck?

It backfires when you deaccelerate like go to down shift and let off the gas and the milage is unknown the odometer is broke but it was fowling the plugs out is the reason i think it has something to do with the carb.
