alt. belt problems

Hi i have 2 different 626`s both models had 2.0 four, with alt. betl problems. They both are eating belts , one is a1995 other one is a 94 anyone have run across this before? I mainly deal with domestic cars & trucks . thanks

there could be two resons...1 check the alt serial# and call the dealer to dind out if they match... just ask them which one you need for that specific year, 2. check the pulley... they might be warped and can cause the problems

The main reason for fast belt wearing is misaligned ro damaged pulleys. Were any of the original alternators every replaced? You can remove the belt and inspect if the alternator pulley is properly aligned with the cranksahft pulley. There could also be a problem with the alternator pulley shaft - ti could be bent and the pulley is wobbly.

My alternator belt problems are well documented on this site. I have a 1992 mazda 121 bubble shape. I have it 6 months and have had 3 belts already. The third one now is slowly beginning to get the same screaming problems that the others got!
