My daughter has a 98 626. Just recently the check engine light came on and the car started kind of jerking when you are driving. Took to AutoZone, said the light was because of a problem with the mixture of air and fuel. I'm a single mom and don't have anybody to ask, does the fuel filter need to be replaced? Could it be bad gas?

the fuel filter is a good start as it is a neglected filter on most cars, also a container of fuel injector cleaner dumped into the gas tank may help also. And it could be junk gas. God knows how long it has sat around in storage (at the refinery or in between), todays gas will not last very long. Good luck!

Did Autozone give you the code number stored on the computer? If not that would help in the trouble-shooting process
