In the comics

Although it is impossible to know how common not wearing underwear is, the concept is hardly strange or unknown to the general public. At least, judging from how often the subject comes up in unexpected places.

In yesterday's Washington Post comics, a dog pulls down the pants of a character in one of the strips, exposing his white briefs. Another character says that at least he wasn't going commando. So the topic is perhaps innocent enough to appear in the Sunday comics.

Also in the Washington Post a few days ago in an article on the Vice President's official residence, there was a photo of a girl jogging along the sidewalk barefoot and wearing cut-off blue jeans. Short ones, too. Alas, it was from 1977. The girl was Walter Mondale's daughter. Dated but interesting.
