Response to ZZ28 is using a spur gear pump

You are correct, the pump is a spur gear pump but not like a Chevy pump as even the pump clearances are super small! This pump will not flatline like a Chevy pump but you are also correct in your conclusions about the Chevy engines' oil system and more pressure or volume in a Chevy does nothing more than hurt it! (When i prime the oil system prior to firing the engine I prime it by hand!!!! Yes, you only have to turn the pump by hand to bring the oil pressure up and it takes less than a couple of minutes! You should see the faces of the Chevy unbelievers that hang around with me!) This is why it made sense to me when Roy explained the differeces between the oil system requirements for a Cleveland and a Chevy! He is a Ford man so he is well aware of the Cleveland's oil problems and with his expertise in fluid dynamics he has a solution! I stated in another response that this is not needed on a street driven car as it won't see the constant rpm's as a circle track engine like mine.
