Hi Guys im Barry from the UK
I have posted a few pictures of myself, the wife and my 1960 Lincoln Continental Convertible 430ci.
Does anyone know how many of these cars are still in existence.
I have a leak on the main crank seal does anyone know if the rubber seals are better than the older type rope seals. I dont know the history of the engine apart from what ive done over the last two years and if the crank has been ground. Do the new seals take any slack up in this if the crank has been worked on.
Does anyone know where i can get a new seal kit for the steering gearbox
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Barry

Re: 43O Crank Seal Leak
Buy one of the modern rubber seals and replace with the engine in place. It is fiddly work but better than having to remove the whole power train just for that job.
Very important is the orientation of the new seal install. Follow the instructions provided with it,

Following this one up re Steering box seals...
I am in the process of rebuilding mine also, I haven't found a kit with the seals but went to a local shop specialized in Hydraulic seals and they were able to source each one of them.
There is a thread in the DIY section http://ford-mel-engine.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1469
which is self explanatory.
I will post some photos from mine when I am done with it.
Cheers
