Ford 430 vs Lincoln 430

Thread starter: "jeffer"

I was just asked a question that I do not know the answer to.

Are the Lincoln and Ford 430 blocks interchangeable? And does it matter what the years are?
If they're not the same, does anyone know what the real differences are?

Thanks in advance.

I am guessing you are referring to the TBIRD (59/60) 430 installation.

They are one and the same. Both cars were assembled on the WIXOM line and both received the same 430 engine. There were some minor differences on the MERC and LINC 430's though. Same engine design.

EDIT- 27 SEP 2010

Let me clarify this. The engine asm was basically the same build although there may have been/were several calibration differences to arrive at certain performance/driveabilty level(s). Each line (LINC-TBIRD) would have received a basic 430 but there would have been several differences. The engines would have been assembled specifically for each car line at the engine plant and shipped to assembly.
