Ever thought about drawing a petition that claims tax exemption on restoration products? I think there would be a huge crowd that would be happy to sign up to it. Anyway great project. I'm curious to see how it looks like in the end. From my own project I remember that the first breath of the motor is a very special moment. Firsat ride is heaven. Make sure all your folks are with you in the car. Don't forget the picknick baskets and to put the dog in the rear. Good days will come.

As you know some parts on these older cars are just about impossible to find. So what does a guy do but have new ones made. I am particularly excited about having the headliner bows remade. They were originally acrylic and just crumbled when taking them out. Only one bow came out of the car in one piece, and trying to find one anymore in one piece is near impossible. We know because we tried. Gotta thank my restorers again for going the extra mile!
Here's some of the recent results.....By the way if you know of someone who needs bows, guess who had extras made...
Headliner Bows (The test strips. Because of the lighting the colors don't look as close as they really are.) We'll have better photo's when the final version is completed.

Depending on whether you want your engine to remain "assembly line fresh" or not you may want to investigate a little further as to what colors your exhaust manifolds and heat shields should be. I have some assembly line photos of 410 engine equipped 58 Edsels and to the best of my knowledge the heat shields are black and the exhaust manifolds are cast iron gray. Believe it or not ,if the engine did not have heat shields between the head and exhaust manifold the exhaust manifolds were installed prior to painting (for instance a FE engine), thus they are engine color. I also have pictures to prove this. Both have mating machined surfaces and the only way to insure against exhaust leaks was to paint after assembly. Your restoration is coming along very nicely.....

I know this from various FE sources. Best insurance against leaks is no gasket at all w. fresh machined surfaces. I thought that this was an old FE hot rodder trick. It's interesting to hear from you that this was a factory thing.
