Does anybody know the rocker arm shaft stand total height? It would be interesting to know and to compare to those of the FE engines. Thanx in advance.

Theo, I had a pair of 390 rocker shafts I was looking at and the pedestals looked identical, same width and height but I don't have them anymore to verify the sizes. I will take a measurement of my 462 pedestals tonight and post my findings. You are about six hours ahead of me as far as time so you'll probably see the numbers tomorrow morning...

Hey that's cool. I also wonder if all MEL stands are the same. As for the FE stands, my garage is full of them. I'll take dimensions tomorrow so we can compare. Thanx bunches.

Overall height: 1.885
Height from head mounting surface to the bottom of the shaft bore: .755
Bore diameter: .843 (The shaft is .840 like an FE)
Pedestal width. or length (?)- the distance between the two machined surfaces: 1.176

Have a great morning!

Hi Rob, thanks for taking measurements of the MEL rocker stand. It's much appreciated.
Here are the dimensions I took from an FE stand this morning. I moved the topic to this section and will also add the numbers to the specs. charts.
Here are the dimensions of the FE stands. It appears that the FE shafts are taller while the MEL shafts sit lower on top of the heads.

Overall height: 2.24"
Height from head mounting surface to the bottom of the shaft bore: 1.0"
Bore diameter: .843 (The shaft is .840 like a MEL)
Pedestal width. or length (?)- the distance between the two machined surfaces: 1.0"
