That manifold took about 25 to 30 hours with a die grinder, and fein multimaster before it ever got to the buffer... then three compounds.. those old aluminum castings are pretty rough. I am going to clear powder coat them before assembly.

Thank you for the heads up on the time required. I have a die grinder, I can get the abraisive rolls and have a bench that is well suited for that messy task. With a little luck, a couple hours a day will keep my nephew busy and give me a piece of eye candy like yours. Yours does look good. TJR

Yeah, I thought it was worth it, my friends think I'm nuts, but hey.. I am of the opinion that engine detailing is an art that most people forget about. Long before chrome dooeys came along hot rodders used to polish what they had to make their engine rooms look cool. I like it. ;)

Rocker shaft length is 18 5/8 inches overall, and diameter is .845 inches
Thank you. I will add it to the basic data base.

G'day all of you... haven't posted in a while, but you are not forgotten... I have my heads done, and the crank is out for turning... been working on my 36 foot CC cruiser all summer, and doing some boating... fall is here in Ontario, and its time to get back to the Supersport and the 430. Will post soon... good luck on all your projects!

A couple of pics of the mallory dual point distributor... on the marine engine, the tachometer is not electric, but mechanical., so there is a tachometer drive off the distributor. I don't know if that is the case on the automobile engine...

1958 EDSEL E-475 had a mechanical tach drive.

Some additional news: I have found a set of Edelbrock M4 aluminum marine exhaust manifolds. Very very rare, and way cool.
A picture already exists on the aftermarket parts page

Heads are done, block has been bored and honed for the wiseco pistons....

To all of you rebuilding, check your valve springs, mine were weak and had to be replaced. Valve spring specs have been put on the 430 engine specs page.
