Was told by guy we got it from it is a Borg Warner from the 50's.

Is there a bellhousing to mate this to our Lincoln 430?

Have C6 that came with the engine but checking in to using the manual transmission.

If your 430 is able to mount to a Ford C6 then any FE bell housing will fit. If it is the 66-68 Lincoln C6 you have a 462. The 462 has a dual bell housing pattern cast into the back of the engine that may or may not be tapped for the 61-65 Cruise-O-Matic, which has a 5 bolt bell. A man told me that he chopped off the right side ear on his 430 and ran a manual 4 speed toploader for 15 years with no problems.

It just has whatever automatic they came with.

I might have got that C6 stuff from Wikipedia or the guy I got it from said it looked like a C6.

The 3 speed is from a mid 50's Ford or Merc.Borg Warner I have been told.

They were C-O-M Twin Range as far as know. My 59 430 (as all 383, 410 and 430 58-60 MEL series engines) the Ford 332-428 bell housing bolt pattern. A Ford C6 will bolt up. The Twin Range has a cast iron case and aluminum tail housing. As far as I know 58-60 Twin Range bell housings were cast iron and the 61-65 (66?) were aluminum bell housings.

EDIT: All 66-68 462 engines have the C-O-M and Corporate C6 pattern cast into the block. I put 66 in parentheses because some 66 blocks have both transmission patterns tapped for both transmissions. I do not know if a 66 462 was available with a C-O-M or not.

Do you mean a big Lincoln version of Fordomatic and Cruisomatic?

Those names were more a sales gimmick and don't help you figure out what it really is.

Think the early ones had that 'twin range' and later ones had regular gear selection.Drive/Low only.

They are Borg Warner 3 speed automatics basically.

They are also a can of worms to figure out which one you have in a Ford or Merc.

We had a '60 292 engine and automatic.All cast iron.No aluminum in that puppy!

Getting another '60 292 with a 3 speed this time and it's kind of a relief really.
