FIRST TIME POSTING: I HAVE A 1961 CONTINENTAL WITH A 430. MY QUESTION IS , WHAT HORSEPOWER IS POSSIBLE OUT OF THIS ENGINE. I PLAN ON INSTALLING A 3X2 INTAKE (I UNDERSTAND THE HOOD PROBLEM) IF I CAN FIND ONE. THERE IS ONE ON EBAY, WHAT IS A GOOD PRICE TO PAY FOR IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

SUPER MARAUDER Rated HP
The actual SUPER MARAUDER (1958) was rated at 400HP. Now whether that was rated HP or dyno HP who knows. The engine also had larger heads, valves and CR than your 61 LINC (2V with restricted cylinder heads).

This is just guessing on my part, but if someone was to take an origional 58 engine and modify it with what is available today, I would think it would dyno 450HP easily. How much beyond that? Stroking and more advanced parts could take you where?

SUPER MARAUDER COMPONENTS

The 3 X 2 setup now on E-Bay is intake correct only. The carbs are not origional (the OEM outboard carbs were actuated by vacuum motors). OEM intakes seem to go for around five to six hundred dollars. They may be increasing in price as so many are now interested in them.

Finding an origional complete setup is very difficult and if found will be extremely expensive. Just recently, a LINC air cleaner asm. went off on E-BAY for $10,000.00.

Just look at what a fuel pump went off for;

An EDELBROCK intake will accept the older STROMBERG, HOLLY and ROCHESTER 2V carbs. That may save you some money.
