Lucky you. I'm looking for a blower intake if anyone knows the whereabouts of one.

The 1961 Hot Rod publication on "Fuel Systems" details more of these items in general and comments that "Weiand's "maximum effort" adaptor bolts eight two-throat carbs to a 6-71." That would be in reference to the Jet Star 8x2 top plate shown above which I can only imagine must be a complete beast on a MEL.

Yea the blower manifold was a bit of luck, Ebay win. The late Ted Cyr told me the hardest thing for him to find for his dragster recreation was the intake.

Who knows maybe a few will turn up, it seems to go in cycles doesn't it.

My plan is to put it into the left over parts car from my '58 Merc 430 6V project with a 3x2 Holley flange blower carb adapter.

Sort of an evil twin.

The tripower carb adapter came from the late Chuck Finders, back when I was messing with my '40 Willys. Never ran it so a blown Mel Tripower, Hot Rod '58 seems a good fit.

Posting a few more multi-carb manifold pics I came across.

A Weiand 671 6x2 blower top plate. There are repros out there that don't fit too well from what I hear. Originals seem to run $500-1,000.

A rare Weiand 8x2 top plate. Ending bid on this was somewhere north of $1,700.

Weiand DragStar 6x2 for MEL. These come up less frequently than the Edelbrock 6x2. Before shelling out big $$, check for corrosion on these. Asking price for NOS is $1,000 vs. $350 for well-used (see last pic).

And here are some oddities

Cragar 8x2 Octagas- rumored to have made one for the MEL. Believe this could be for MEL but not 100% sure. Seldom seen.

Latham Supercharger. The standard model used 2 Carter YH carbs. The competition model used 4. YH carbs were mostly used on early Corvettes and turbocharged Corvairs 1962-1966. The Latham competition model for 430 MEL was $935 wholesale back in the day, plus 25% for retail !! Asking prices for these setups are usually $3,000-$5,000+ but are seldom complete setups anymore. I've seen them as high as $10k.

There was also a scale model kit made based on the 430. I think it came with optional Hilborn or Latham. This one has Continental Mark II valve covers.

Here's a mocked up 8x2 Weiand DragStar on the MEL with new Moon covers. Thanks to Larry from Precision Hot Rods and Fabrication for the pic.

Whew! I like that 8x2! Looks great

I think that ebay motor was a scam. It was on craigslist too and was listed over seas or the seller was overseas....you know how those scammers are. Hope the ebay one was a legit seller this time! I would have bought it for that price
