Re: AERA Engine Specification Sheets
You Know Gary... I wonder if the deck height is measured to the inside of the cylinder bore as this is where the actual quench area is? To calculate proper deck height you would then use a formula to allow for the ten degree cut in the deck (to say square the block on a machine)? Broken link to phot...

Re: AERA Engine Specification Sheets
Like I Said, No score for this post December 3 2004, 7:34 AM I was very disappointed in the material(s) received. Whether it is accurate or not is only going to be verified by one actually having a block to take measurements off of. Like you say, the sheet calls for the measurement at the C/L OF MAI...

AERA Engine Specification Sheets
I finally got up off my lazy butt and contacted AERA (Engine Rebuilders Association) for information pertaining to spec. sheets and if such a thing was available. The guy was really friendly and accomodating and said he would send the pertinent sheets (58/65 and 66/68) for the MEL engine. No charge ...

Relationship betw. MEL and Ford Gas Truck Engines 477-534
If I remember correctly...
I wrote to Ford decades ago and asked the Super Duty bore spacing - they said 5.25.

Re: Relationship betw. MEL and Ford Gas Truck Engines 477-53
No Relationship ...other than both are "plankhead" styled engines. It is a much larger and heavier engine series. Even the firing order is different from the FE and MEL. I am not sure of the bore spacing, but my guess is that it is greater. The crank and rods of this engine series were made heavy fo...

SUPER MARAUDER COMPONENTS The 3 X 2 setup now on E-Bay is intake correct only. The carbs are not origional (the OEM outboard carbs were actuated by vacuum motors). OEM intakes seem to go for around five to six hundred dollars. They may be increasing in price as so many are now interested in them. Fi...
