Re: Early Intake Manifold Score
Look's good. Makes me want to get on mine. I also think it was the hood line. Lincoln dropped the hood line for 61 causing the 61 and up starter movement and the squished intake manifold. Look's like an FE thermostat housing was modified to work.

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
I am ok with 5 bolts. I was talking about only running 4 like yours has. Yours has the dowl about 4" outside the nearest bolt. Lincoln might have seen an issue with the 5 bolt automatic transmissions. In 1966 the 462 received a sixth bolt below the starter. This was done by casting a bolt on ear tha...

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
I had considered doing that but adding the fifth bolt boss above the starter or even tanking a busted FE and grafting that whole ear on. The dowls provide the tensile strength but that loss of clamping force around the dowl had me concerned about possibly cracking the bell housing when the 65 F-250 ...

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
I see. I wonder if he cut the 65 block ear off above the MEL starter to fit the FE bell housing. I have heard of guys doing that and running just four bell housing bolts in the MEL.

Re: Early Intake Manifold Score
I have those height measurements saved somewhere. 58-59 4V, 60-62 2V, 63-65 4V and the 462 4V. Don't know what 4V Thunderbird used in 1960. Even started a post on it but abandon it. I think the interest got lost in life's shuffle. I have molds #1-3 of the EDG. I see you have #4. No difference I coul...

Re: 1958 Continental Claret -
Like the postage find. I bet it was nice to have the dollar go further back then. I found a shop bill in an old Ford pickup. It was about $100 for parts and 12 hours labor. Were the Lincoln build sheets under the seat back then?

Re: 430 c1v and c4ve interchangeability
From the builders I know custom Wiseco and Diamond recommended. I priced Wiesco pistons for my 59 430 at about $135 each. The only EGGE 410 MEL piston set I have seen had no pin offset. That caused to heavy side of the piston to knock around in the cylinder. That was several years ago, may or may no...

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
Hello, I have been threatening to put a 430 in my 65 F-250. I mocked everything up in 66 frame a couple of years ago. Is your F-100 a Camper Special? If not and the Dana 60 is original it has the towing package. Non Camper Specials likely didn't have the helper spring pack. The transmission is my ma...
