Re: Lincoln seat belt 1957-60
I can tell a whole lot of very boring details about these belts, who made them, where they've been found, etc., and some very detailed information about the progression of seat belt usage and availability for the various FoMoCo makes. For now, it will suffice to say the Mercury-style belts pictured ...

Re: Falling trunklid problem
Actually, it sounds as though (and I've never heard of this happening) that one of your torsion bars might be broken. More likely, though, only one of the hinge's eccentrics has snapped, so there's only one torsion bar trying to do all the work, and it's not up to the job. What's likely going on is ...

Re: Water neck Water outlet Thermostat Housing
EDF-8592-A, same as all 1958-59 383, 410 and 430 cid for Mercury. Not sure about 1960, because they might have gone to a coolant reservoir like Ford did that year. Thunderbird appears to have had the coolant reservoir with all the 1958/60 models, so no dice there. Talk to John Fowlie at Big "M" Auto...

Re: 1958 Mercury Monterey. GM proving ground photos.
Correction, these photos were only forwarded to the group by Bob. I am the original source and photographer of these particular shots. They were taken with a rather inexpensive Kodak digital camera at a library table under an incandescent desk light, which explains the strange reflective artifacts. ...

Re: 1958 Edsel Pacer Engine shots.
These are scans of photocopies I made at a public library. Anybody can access them for a $10 out-of-state user's fee for the day. I recognize them by the vertical stripe which was a flaw in the machine I was using that day. I scanned them and e-mailed them to Bob. The views are two of many photos ta...

Re: 1958 mercury medalist
The 1958 Mercury (Medalist) was a mid-year introduction specifically in an attempt to save the year for the Mercury automobile. Big cars were selling dismally, and this model was to help cover Mercury's gap at the low-end of the mid-priced field. At the same time, Edsel was considering introducing a...

Needed Lincoln seat belt 1957-60
Looking for one to three original, factory style seat belt buckles for 1957-60 Lincoln (some 1956 models might also have them). These are not the metal-to-fabric aircraft-style pull-throughs used by Ford through 1963, or by Lincoln and Mercury in most pre-1957 installations. The ones I need are meta...
